I got a call from the blood bank. Turns out they needed someone who can donate blood to a baby; and I am one of the 10% who can donate to babies. (The staff call us baby blood donors) So I went down, but they couldn't hit a vein much to my pain and dissapointment. So I went back the following day, and they hit one and got their donation. It was for a 2 year old girl. Did I mention I'm also a universal donor? Convenient. Makes me feel like I've accomplished something important.

Somehow I'm not surprised. The questions were very similar to the depression tests my osychiatrist gives me on occasion.
| You Are 100% Burned Out | You are extremely burned out. You work too hard, and you're not getting the results you deserve. It's time for a life change, as soon as you can manage it. You're giving away most of your energy to something you don't even enjoy. |

I just saw a show on T.V. called "Spiderman Tech". They gathered together biologists, genetists, and a half dozen or more spider specialists. And they then analized all of Spiderman's abilities and powers; then compared them to how they exist and work in real spiders. The really amazing thing that came from all this is; with the use of a properly designed retro virus it is possible to make it all happen. Web, speed, wall climbing, jumping, strength, et. all. In theory. We're about 20 years shy of the needed tech. Cool cool cool.

I found out some treible news a few hours ago, but can only now talk about it.
Steve Irwin the "Crocidile Man" was killed in a freak accident. It seems he was killed, by of all things a sting ray (often called the pussycat of the deep); and are often found in petting pools in acquatic zoos. It used it's poisoned bony barbed tail, it's only defense, and stabbed him right in the heart. He pulled the barb out, looked at it, passed out and died.
If you had asked me yesterday if I had any heros aside from the people I knew, I would have said no. Now I know othrwise. I remember the looks of love, awe, and respect and admiration he always had for the animals he was dealing with. And how often he would put his health on the line to help some hapless animal.
He cared. He really cared, and tried to make the rest of us understand and care too. He was the sort of person the world desperatly needs more of. I will miss him. Please give a prayer for his widow and two children.

I am very difficult to shop for. But I recently realized the perfect gift, for any occasion. One (or more) troy ounce(s) of silver. Not silver coins, which were once legal tender. But silver units, which by coincidence look to be the same size and shape as a silver dollar. One side usually says 'One Troy Ounce .999% pure silver' and the other side ususally has some random thing, like a bell or eagle. And they only cost $6ish each, most affordable.
My psychiatrist has been changing my meds around for weeks now. So I've been feeling physically and mentally like crap for quite a bit. It happens for a week each time till I adjust to the change. I haven't felt this terrible in a long time.
My doctor had told me I needed to get out and interact with people, since I am slowly caveing in on myself. So I did and it was fun, and I started to have hope of reentering some non housebound social interaction.
But it seems the group, or most likely their leader, didn't like me. They decided to exclude me by having their events, and just not telling me when or where. I am of course very insulted none of them had the courage to say anything to my face. What are they afraid of, being rude? I'm an adult. I can stand being kicked out gracefully.
god I'm sooooo depressed. What was the point of enduring all this, again?

Ulysses S. Grant You scored 72 Wisdom, 41 Tactics, 62 Guts, and 54 Ruthlessness! |
| Like you, Grant went about the distasteful business of war realistically and grimly. His courage as a commander of forces and his powers of organization and administration made him the outstanding Northern general. Grant, though, had no problem throwing away lives on huge seiges of heavily defended positions. At times, Union casualties under Grant were over double that of the Confederacy. However, Grant was notably wise in supporting good commanders, especially Sheridan , William T. Sherman , and George H. Thomas. Made a full general in 1866, he was the first U.S. citizen to hold that rank. |

O.K this takes a little explanation to make proper sense. There is a relativly harmless blood bourn virus called CMV. (I think they said it stands for Cymataform Meta Virus. Or something similar) Basically, it's a very common childhood disease, like chicken pox. You can catch it, and get over it and never even realize it. And about 85-90% of the public have/had it. But it's harmless, unless you have a comprimised immune system.
Starting Thursday, the blood center people started calling me and leaving imploring messages to come in soon. So Sarah and I went in today to donate. The front desk lady knew my name immediatly. When she gave me the usual startup paperwork, she also gave me a card. It was handwritten, and gave personel thanks for "..taking this lifegiving action". I think it may have been signed by the facility director. It also included a red rectangular pin-w/ the sillouett of a baby, and said "Baby Blood Doner"
So I asked the desk lady what this was all about. Well, turns out there is a baby who is due to have open heart surgery w/ 48-72 hours. And I am the only one with the same blood type in the region, who Does Not have CMV (which would be dangerous to a baby)
Normally a donation is...blah blah, save three lives blah blah. But this one was-This donation is specifically allowing a life saving operation. Of a baby.
As we left, we saw a medical travel chest being hussled into a taxi. Gotta wonder if it was my donation?

So I took a look and sure enough. What a relief. I will be more carefull in the future about managing dangerous things.

Been trying to sleep for about an hour now. Got sick of just tossing and turning. Weird thing is, I'm terribly tired. Maybe not so odd. Last night went to bed 3:00ish and fell asleep quickly. I then must've slept at least three hours at a stretch. And I had dreams! I never have dreams. They were normal weird dreams, not a delerium. I woke up from my last sleep at something around 1:30. I felt great. A half hour later, I was tired and took a nap; lasting only an hour or so. Then Sarah and I went and did stuff. I watched the director's cut of The Chronicles of Riddick tonight. It was much better than the theatrical version. I missplaced or lost a bullet here at home last night. Must do a more thorough search tomorrow. Not such a good thing to loose. The thing just lately is, with the depression crashing back in full bore (I stopped taking my main one due to side effects) I don't know how to handle it. I'm disorientated and dizzy. I forgot what to expect. I'm lost. Imagine you have not swam for 15 years, and are then thrown into cold water naked- at the deep end. That momentary sense and panic. Something old, yet something new. A moment of helpless confusion as your head is suddenly underwater, unexpectedly. Feh- I feel I am failing to convey this at all. Feeling irratable. It's just all so futile and pointless. I think I'll go try to sleep again. During the past 20 min I've been typing, my cat Owen has caught and ate a dream mouse/bird/prey; turned inside out with a joyous smile, and is still inside out, with one paw curled over his eyes. Ooops, now he's hunting again. Sometimes I think I envy him a bit.
